First night in Galati in Troy and Karla's apartment.

Sunday we were able to watch our soccer team (blue) play in a driving rain storm...they won 2-0.

Troy kicked off the 3560 Experiment the day we arrived in Romania, October 8...He selected this day and month eight months earlier. Just coincidence...I don't think so. This "Experiment" is to share the gospel with 3,560 people over the next ten years.

A huge orthodox church recently constructed in the city of Bralia...The inside is still unfinished with gray concrete walls.

Steve had the opportunity to lead in worship during one of the Sunday services at Metanoia.

National NCAA Division II Qualifiers

The William Jewell College women’s doubles team of sophomore Paula Peters (Caunton, Nottinghamshire, England) and first-year player Katy Lehenbauer (Kansas City, Mo.) has won the Small College Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Regional Championships. The three-day tournament was held September 16-18 at Harmon Park in Kearney, Neb. Peters and Lehenbauer defeated twin sisters Kaitlan and Kelleen Sera of Colorado Mesa 9-7 in the finals. The sisters entered the tournament as the number one seed while Peters and Lehenbauer were the number-three seeds of the tournament. The win sends the Jewell doubles duo to National Competition October 13-16 in Mobile, Ala.

“Paula and Katy played with such poise and really came together as a team during this tournament,” said head coach Paul Worstell. “The finals match was a very close match and it was great to see them come through with the win. We are really looking forward to playing in the National Tournament next month

Dragons Finish The Season With A Fourth Place Finish At State

The Cameron Dragons Wrestling Team finished in fourth place at the state wrestling tournament held in Tiger Arena in Columbia, MO over the past weekend. the dragons finished with 2 state finalists, 1 fourth and 2 fifth place finishers. The Dragons were the second smallest school in the Class 2 division.

The Cameron wrestling squad placed second place behind Millard South (Omaha, NE) at the Quad States Classic in Maryville, MO on Saturday. The dragons had 3 champions, 2 finalists, 3 third place and 3 fourth place finishers. The team's next competition will be at the District Tournament on February 11-12, 2011.

This was the last competition until after Christmas break: Their season resumes on January 6th when they Travel to Savannah for a triple dual with Savannah, Maryville, and Lafayette high schools.

The church in the Valley...It is back in the same location where it was in the Summer of 08'.

I was craving bar-b-que when I arrived back in the states, and this one was at the Memphis airport...So I gave it a taste test. It was pretty good!

I know it is a bit late, but getting this last post up has been very difficult. Upon arriving home, wrestling season started and the Kairos weekend took place the next week to the day I arrived back home. So, needless to say, it has been a task to finally get this post up. It was a time of spiritual growth for me on this trip to Romania. God took me way outside my comfort zone on this trip in order to continue the growing process in my life. I am looking forward to returning again next Summer and Fall if this is God's will.

Finally A Break In The Weather

The weather finally broke and the courts dried out enough for the players to resume their practice schedule. Yesterday was the first hit since Landing in Romania last week. I was able to renew some old friendships with the junior players and also several of the adult players I had met from previous trips here in Galati. My hope is be able to share the reason why I come back to Romania, Galati in particular. I plan on sowing the seeds where ever I go, even in the red clay of the tennis courts.

This Morning in Bucharest

The above and below photos are of the seminary where Richard and Wanda Clark teach classes. For a few minutes this morning in Richard's Church Plant class, I was given the opportunity to give my testimony and a short talk about why I come to Romania and what God has called me to do. I was truly humbled to be given this opportunity.

First Day In Bucharest

I accompanied George today and we went into the streets of Bucharest near the universities downtown. We were able to speak John (photo below) a couple of architect students, a gypsy woman and a couple he knew that were repenters. I asked his friends, who were orthodox to begin with, how they came to become believers...and they shared their story with me. It was pretty incredible to hear the hardships he endured because of his conversion.

On the right is a young man named John (he is Romanian Orthodox), that George and Steve Howell spoke with this past summer outside the university in downtown Bucharest. Since that time, George has been meeting with him, talking about how to receive Christ into his life. Today I went with him for their meeting and I was able to speak with him and give him my testimony. He still believes in good works in order to try to get to Heaven.

Since I was state side this year, I was able to be a counselor at LIP held at Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, MO this past week. LIP is a camp 21/2 day camp that brings about 140 of the brightest, upcoming sophomores across the state of Missouri in for training sessions designed to develop their leadership abilities. Getting Things Started

This small of kids showed up to have a tennis lesson this morning. It was reported to me later that they had a great time hitting some tennis balls.

Thought this was interesting...A construction site very near to the church where we are working in Bucharest.

I met this young man of 26 years of age in the park across from the church, his name is Ilie and he is in the military. There was a group of young men playing table tennis and Ilie wasn't who I was speaking with when he finished playing and sat down by Gabriel (young man I was sharing with). At first he seemed uninterested, but when Gabriel left he continued the conversation with perfect English (I used Share Jesus Without Fear with him)...He is searching for meaning to his life. He allowed me to quote scripture to him and then he answered what each one was saying. When I finished, I had shared the plan of salvation with him and when we talked about the "free gift" mentioned in Romans 6:23, and what it meant, the light bulb came on and as we discussed Romans 10:9 he began to see where he stood before a holy and righteous God. As we parted, he ask if I would e-mail him, and I got his address to do this. One of his friends that sat and listened to much of our conversation snapped the photo above. He said thank you and said he really enjoyed our talk...I will e-mail him and I hope he continues to search for meaning in his life.

First Day In Bucharest

Bob and Margie Craig (above), master missionaries in Bucharest, Romania. I was shopping with them when Margie purchased two intricate statues made out of clay. The potter that created them assumed that I was their son, and gave me a small magnetic sculpture for free (was 25 lei)!

Roland and Laura had us over last night for dinner...Laura is an amazing hostess. It was great to visit with them again before we leave on Friday for Bucharest. Roland is a true friend in every sense of the word...I have a very special place in my heart for them.

Rumbly Wednesday Evening

After spending the morning at the courts, Roland invited me to go with him to a small village outside Tecucci (where he had to go to a job site). I went to this city last year (in July) by train to spend the day and see the city and in particular this beautiful park (above). This year, being there three weeks earlier, the flowers were all in full bloom.

Yes, finally Galati got rained on last night while we were in the Valley...And yes we got soaked (except for Florina, who had my umbrella). This is the second storm that hit us after we got back to the apartment. Number three woke us up in the early morning when it blew in.

Many Show Up To Go Into The Valley Tonight

Last night in the Valley went very well for our team of four: Marius, Gabbie, Florina, and myself. We had two great encounters with two older orthodox women. Amazingly both were receptive of what we were saying, but one could not come to terms that God could and would forgive her of all the sins she has committed. We concluded the evening with a short prayer meeting at the church in the Valley. We sang, had short testimonies, Bogdon ask Steve (on the spur of the moment) to present a short Bible study. It was great to see his "deer in the headlights response to Bogdon's request, but he presented a short lesson on God's promises by using the story of Abraham as the foundation.

Well, our bags beat us to Galati today. Thanks to Roland for picking them up and greeting us at the Garra along with Beneu. Our next surprise...We were invited for lunch at Donny's home. Landon wouldn't let me take any photos because wants all to think we are suffering here...The lunch was amazing!!! You'll hafe to ask us about the menu when we get home. As we got settled in at the Geddes' apartment, many guests came by to see us and begin and renew friendships. Thanks Troy & Karla for your hospitality

On our way to Holy Trinity for services tonight, This man that attends there was riding the same bus that we were on. When he saw us, he greeted us with a big hand shake and a kiss on each cheek. Steve received a double portion of that blessing when he rode the same bus after services to our departure point...Landon was heard saying,"Wish I would have had my camera ready." This man demonstrates the love of Jesus... What a great ambassador for Christ.

Everything went flawless until we arrived in Bucharest. Out of the six bags we checked, only one arrived with us at Bucharest. We spent the next 45 minutes waiting in line filling out paperwork as to where our bags would be sent. Our friend Jeremy patiently waited for us outside (thank goodness I had Randy's old cell phone with many numbers). We step off the plane and within 30 minutes God's hand is at work right before our eyes...You see Jeremy picked us up in his car and had room in the trunk for one large bag, one racket bag and four backpacks...six would have been way too many. Our bags will be delivered (we hope) to Roland's home in Galati and we don't have to take them on the train with us. We all packed clothes for two to three days in our backpacks, so we are not inconvenienced in the slightest. So...

We drove around the city a bit, got groceries at a shop near Bob & Linda Craig's apartment and...

Lookin Toward The Future

Since 2006, this has been my little corner of the world at school...An office built in the corner of the downstairs gym. The previous 25 years my office was upstairs in various rooms, sometimes with some coworkers and sometimes an office all to myself. Yesterday was the day everything was taken down, crated up and made ready to be stored in my basement at home. This weekend it will be totally cleared out in preparation for its new occupant. In 1981, if you would have told me that I would spend my whole teaching and coaching career here at Cameron, I would have bet you that this would not happen...I have enjoy my first career, but now I look forward to what God has planned for me to do for the remainder of my days on earth. I am confident that He has already begun that process many years ago and He is waiting for the right time to open the doors He wants me to go through...I walk by faith, not sight.

Special Friends...On Our "Turf"

We were truly blessed to have three of the Geddes family (Troy, Karla, and Robert) on "our turf" for a visit while they are here in the states until late August. They are missionaries in the country of Romania and their assigned area is in the southeast. I became acquainted with them in 2004 when a small fact finding group (Jay, Nancy, and myself) from our church went to a city in the southeast called Galati. On that trip, I went kicking and screaming, vowing to God that I came, I saw, are you happy now, leave me alone about this issue! What has transpired in my life since then can only be explained by me as God putting Troy and his family directly in the crossroads of my life. I have not to this day met someone that just oozed Jesus like Troy did...and still does. In this family, I saw true sacrifice and what it really meant to be a committed follower of Jesus Christ...I was just going through the motions in my walk with Jesus. Since that trip, God has allowed me to return every year for two weeks up to a month at a time. Each time God continues to grow and shape me into the man He desires me to become as I am obedient to His will. Evey time I go, I leave a bigger piece of my heart there with the Romanian nationals who have become very dear friends of mine. So Troy, while you are state side I hope you will do the four R's: (1) Relax. You have every reason to do this and you have definitely earned it. (2) Renew. Not only with your family and friends, but with Jesus and the leading of the Holy Spirit. (3) Reflect. Look where you have been, where you are and where God is leading you. (4) Reload. By doing the previous three, you will be ready to go when you return to Romania...You will have a plan in mind based on what you have learned and experienced (the past seven years) and a clearer method to implement it. God bless you and your family as you are state side for a few months.

They have perfected the art of making an "Old Fashion" sundae...And yes you have to experience one to fully enjoy it!

Retirement Party

Above are the teachers/staff that will be retiring this year at Parkview Elementary School. Between the five of us there are 149 years of experience in the public school system. The retirement party was planned and carried out by past retirees and current staff at Parkview. It was a great time, and upon retiring , we will become part of the group that meets monthly for dinner and fellowship.

Many team meetings proceed a Kairos Weekend. Above is a picture one of those meetings.

Our church provides a place for the out of town team members to stay with no charge.

One of the many "rooms." This has been dubbed, The Nebraska Suite...It has two annex rooms that are also occupied.

What is Kairos? Kairos is a multi-denominational group of Believers who enter a (maximum level 5) prison and present the gospel a group of offenders that are leaders in the institution for a 4 day weekend. The motto for Kairos is: Love, love, listen, listen.

CRCC Maximum Prison...On this particular weekend, miracles happen right in front of our eyes, as we see The Holy Spirit impact lives.

MEC Conference Champions

The photo was taken last Saturday night after the Cameron Dragon wrestling team claimed the schools first MEC (Midland Empire Conference) Conference Title. This was totally an unexpected surprise...The team finished dead last in the 2009 tournament with many of this team composed of last seasons squad(there are no seniors on the squad this year). I am thankful for the disappointments in my life because I know that God is using them to keep me humble as he continues to mold me into the man He desire me to become. I give Him all credit for this awesome honor he has allow me to be a part of.

Our Winter Bible Study this year has been on the parables found in the book of Matthew. Leading this study has been our former pastor, Dr. Mike Proud. Our study began Sunday morning, evening, tonight, and will conclude tomorrow night. Mike is the pastor at Arbor Christian Fellowship, Lake Forest, California. This man will always have a very special place in my heart...Not because he once was my pastor (though that is reason enough), but because he is the one God chose to lead me to true repentance and surrender of my will to the Will of God. He is one of the few "Paul's" (some one that mentors you as a true believer) in my life. It has been a great joy for me to get to renew our friendship and listen to the in depth study of Jesus' parables.

At 7:30 am this morning this was the temperature outside, not counting the windchill. Our high here today is supposed to be a balmy 12 degrees F. It was a balmy 34 degrees F yesterday with some sunshine...But the next few days are a far cry from yesterday's temps. All the paved surfaces were melted, sidewalks, driveways, and streets...This morning they are skating surfaces The seven day outlook is for highs in the mid-twenty's and lows in the single digits...Oh boy!

Well the depth of snow in our driveway is in the first two photos. When I got to the end of the driveway, there was approximately 7'-8' to the path going down the street. At that point my friend (Mr. Carr our neighbor across the street) came to my rescue with his snow blower...a few minutes he was rescued by Mr. Hoppenthaler in a Bobcat with a scoop. With in 5 minutes the drive was clear to the street. How thankful I am for friends that are willing to lend a helping hand.

When I came home from practice I saw a site that has been absent in our home for quite a while. I am very much a neat, everything has a place type person, but tonight I didn't mind how I found the girls rooms (Megan's top photo and Whitney's bottom photo). They are home for Thanksgiving break from NWMSU and Lila and I will enjoy having the house a bit cluttered and noisy for the next few days.

It was so wonderful to have my good friend Randy Myers in our morning worship service today. Randy and his wife Teresa are IMB Master level missionaries serving in Romania. They are in the states for a few weeks before returning to serve out the remainder of their term. Teresa did not attend today because she is hanging out with her nine month old granddaughter, Emma. I thank God for the Myers as they serve our Lord half-a-world away.

We Meet At Last

For the past four years I have only viewed photos, heard stories and watched videos of pastor David Groves (former pastor of Living Word in Popular Bluff, MO). Tonight I had the opportunity to meet him at Heartland Baptist Association office where he is facilitating a group of pastors and their wives planning a mission trip to El Salvador in early November. David is president of IGO (International Gospel Outreach), an organization that facilitates churches and individuals to fulfill the Great Commission by becoming involved in short-term mission projects around the world. Needless to say it was my privilege to meet this amazing man of God...the wait was worth it. I hope in the future I get the opportunity to meet and perhaps throw sow some seeds with David, but I hope it will be half-a-world away...in Romania. May God bless his ministry as he facilitates and leads teams around the world Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
