Sunday Evening

The photos were taken during a performance/service at a Nazarene church near our hometown last Sunday evening. A few of us attended the service presented by our friend Andrew. This past summer he was a member of the team I led to Galati, Romania. Andrew is a gifted keyboard player and he uses his talents to bring glory to God. It has been really amazing watch God work in this young man's as he is being molded into the man God desires him to be.

Happy Birthday Lila

Lunch at Red Lobster with Birthday gifts for the birthday girl.

Raechel (niece), Debbie (sister), and Danny (brother-in-law) were also present at lunch.

Oh, yes, my belated gift (from the above mentioned) a deluxe coffee maker...what a suprise gift it was, but right up my alley!

Megan (left) and Whitney (right) were in the next both, close enough to make sure their order was right. Jayce (nephew) and Dakota are ??????

The Gathering @ FBC

Tonight at FBC was the Gathering along with a skit/ talent (or lack there of, photos below) night.

Left: Yes David, we do have fish on the menu tonight!
Right: A good turn out for the Gathering.

Left: The children had a great time outside.
Right: Patiently waiting for the service line to begin.

If we can't see you, you can't see us!

Two thorns and a rose...you be the judge.
Guys, the toilet is across the hall!
Yes, this is our pastor...
...no words can describe this...I don't have a clue?

An Evening At Arrowhead

The field pass wrist band says it all.

Two handsome guys, Don below and me above. Don has great seats for the Chiefs games, row 6 and 7, right where the opposing team enters and exits the field.

Candid shot during the 4th quarter.

So close, I could see the whites of their eyes...and yes they are extremely large individuals!

The Last First

Today was the first day of school for our daughters, Megan and Whitney (pictured above with Nike). For Whitney it is her last, first day of high school since she will be graduating in the spring of '08. They grow up fast and I can remember not so long ago her first day of kindergarten...she is a tremendous young lady and we are excited to see what God has planned for her to do as she continues to develop day by day. Nice looking dog too, da?!

Twenty-two

Yes, El Maguey has two sombreros, as well as, plenty of whipped cream for special events and unsuspecting clientele.

The last piece of anniversary dessert, not too bad.

Nancy and Jeff, partners in crime...guilty of the above mentioned.

Our daughter, Megan, called me on my cell and informed me that our next door neighbor baked us an anniversary cake. She said she would put it in the fridge so the icing wouldn't melt...so we could see it before she carved into it. Needless to say Megan and (her little friend) Ashli couldn't possibly wait for us to get home before having some of OUR cake. Well, when we arrived home, sitting on the kitchen counter was the cake in all its splendor with a large wedge carved out and no one at home...do I sound surprised?!!
Thanks Nancy and Jeff for the dinner fun and fellowship and Dorothy for the cake...we appreciate you all very much.

I Think It's The Heat

I think the heat is getting to me as of today, here are the two reason why. Well, Einstein here (aka. me) decided to weed eat around the neighbors wild wheat plants with his sandals on. Below you can see my foot where the weed wacker's string attacked two toes and nicked the big one (1). Needless to say I had a little talk with Jesus, especially after the numbness wore off after about ten minutes. Hum, lesson number one learned (the hard way), wear shoes when you are weed eating...duh! Lesson two...at dinner tonight, David gave me what he called a spicy pepper (2) he grew in his garden. This little "pepper" was more than spicy, it was flat HOT! I think it was hotter than this green one I attempted to eat while in Romania. Lesson two learned...NEVER accept a edible vegetable from a man from India!

ps-Landon, this spicy pepper had no seeds...I think its heat is in the oils.

The New Timex

Yes, I am convinced that the Apple i-pod could be the new version of the Timex watch. For those of you too young to remember the commercial, the Timex watch slogan (when I was younger) was takes a lickin and keeps on tickin. Well, Sunday night I forgot and left my i-pod in my shorts pocket when they were washed. I thought it was ruined after the lengthy baptism...it played dead all day on Monday. Last night I attempted to charge it and "Walla!" An orange light, so I left it to charge overnight...this morning, green light and music. Pretty durable machine, but I wouldn't advise a baptism session for your i-pod.

Happy 45th Jeff

Happy birthday Jeff (gray shirt below), like my wife tells me ALL the time, you're only as old as you act!

I have always heard that smoke follows beauty, but there are exceptions to every rule!

A typical summer dinner: veggie tray, potatoes, chips, burgers, hot dogs, and dessert...guess we are typical.

More Miscellaneous Reunion Photos

I decided to put on this posting just a few random shots from our reunion, I hope you enjoy them...if anyone has more photos, I would like post them on this page if you will send them to me.

Stroud's...One of My Two Favorite Spots

Left: Troy, we must of passed Romanian Nationals on our way to lunch...wasn't a Dachia.
Right: One of my two most favorite restaurants...the other La Mommas (Galati).

Left: The best chicken in America according to People Magazine.
Right: I tried to crumb one of Jeff's pieces of chicken, but had no luck.

Above: Three generations...Whitney, Pearl, and Me.
Sunday lunch was at one of my two favorite places anywhere...Stroud's. We have been eating at this restaurant for over twenty-five years and have never had a bad experience with food or service. The side dishes are served family style (unlimited refills on green beans, all varieties of potatoes, gravy, and cinnamon rolls) you never leave hungry...if you do it is your fault. The meat portions you order are ginormous in size and second to none in taste. I'm just glad that there are several special occasions in the month of August which will give the opportunity to go again.

30th Class Reunion

Last night the class of 1977 celebrated our 30th reunion at Gary and Debbie Turners house. They were a great host and hostess (Gary, how you got her to agree to this was amazing...you are head of sales and promotions at work, right?) Although we have all gone our separate ways doing a variety of occupations, living in different parts of the states, it is still good to look back and recall those memories (no matter how horrifying some of them might be). Below are some photos from the event.

Corwin, still has a heart of gold, but now he has added another metal...hip of steel.

Tim, sorry man, I didn't know who you were
until you were leaving...old age I guess.

Top photo: Even the homecoming queen ( from many, many years ago) can have a bad hair day!
Left photo: Two handsome guys Randy (in blue) and Bill ( in red-Deanna's spouse, sorry dude)... oh yah Deanna.

Becky & Larry on the lake cruise...Larry looks
just a little too happy here, doesn't he?

30th year class photo: A small tribute to those who were not able to attend and to those who will not attend again.

I'm going to open my eyes in just a second, oh please God, make it be gone when I do!

We can do everything we did when we were in high school...only now we need quite a few days of recooperation time.
