What Does It Mean To Commit?

I remember reading this devotion a couple of years ago and today I found it again...how appropriate it has become in my life.

What does it mean to "commit" your ways to the Lord? It's a radical way to approach life. Bob Pierce, the founder of World Vision, really got the hang of it. He prayed,"Lord, I give you license to interfere in my life and plans at any time, in any way, at any cost. Lord, You're in charge. I've got my plans, my dreams, my personal agenda, but if You want to change things, go right ahead-and You don't have to tell me in advance."

There were two scripture passages listed below the article, both found in the book of Proverbs:

Commit to the Lord whatever you do , and your plans will succeed. (16:3)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding: In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight. (3:5-6)

As I seek God's Will, and He closes some doors and opens others, I pray that I will truly have the strength to "commit" to the plans He has for me. How great it would be if God's people had the enthusiasm to share Jesus with their lost friends as they do to do things that have no eternal consequences. John Wesley said it best,"Catch on fire with enthusiasm and people will come from miles to watch you burn." His words still ring true.

Kairos #5 At CCRC

Today our Kairos team finishes up the last leg of the Kairos weekend (held last week at CCRC) with the one day Reunion. Today's meeting will inform the offenders what they will be doing on the Tuesday night call out  (Prayer and Share groups).  We are hopeful that many will decide to join the Kairos family and by doing so, God will begin to change them from the inside out.  To see more information visit our new blogspot at:  http://familyofkairos.blogspot.com/
