A "Proud" Affair

Our Winter Bible study from the book of Romans is being taught by our former pastor, Dr. Mike Proud (photos above). Mike now is the pastor of El Toro Baptist Church near San Diego, CA. It is great to get to see him again and renew our friendship. Of all the people in the world, this is the man God chose to use to lead me to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He will forever have a very special place in my heart. In our study tonight, we read the theme of Romans contained in this passage 1:16-17:

16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

By professing this theme in his every day living, God continues to use Mike to point those around him to a saving faith in God's only son, Jesus Christ.

2008 ROMANIA MISSION TRIP -- First Official Meeting

Tonight was our first official meeting to plan our Romanian Mission trip later on this summer. We are planning on sending one team for two weeks to the city of Galati where we have been working with our IMB missionary, Troy. This year there will also be a IMB Masters couple, Randy and Terea working along with Troy.

We had six at the meeting tonight...no rookies were present. I am truly humbled that God has selected me to go to Galati again to spread the gospel to the people there.

Please pray that God will begin working in the hearts of the people we will encounter as well as our hearts as we prepare to go.

New Year's Eve At FBC

New Year's Eve the youth gathered at the church for an evening of fun...laser tag, dance competition, jousting, sumo wrestling, bungee run, boxing and a Velcro obstacle were the activities for the evening. Below are a few photos of the evening.

Above: Jeff and I safety tested some of the activities before the youth arrived: boxing in an air filled ring, bungee run and sumo wrestling and jousting.
